What comes in your mind first when you think about barbecue? Sometimes, your mind straightly goes to burgers, toasts, pastry, hot dogs, kebabs, smoked meats, and fish baskets. Here are some meats used barbecuing each year and a few helpful tips on how to prepare them.

Marinated shrimp – Shrimps works well on the barbecue and also the renowned choice for seafood lovers. It requires special care as shrimp cook quickly and can simply escape and fall through the grill grate. BBQ skewers and fish baskets are perfect cooking tool options for grilling aficionados.

Chicken – Chicken is always good on the grill in any form, though the leaner breast meat is far better if it is marinated, if not, meat will become dry. Due to higher fat content on the drumsticks and thighs, it will do well on the grill.

Pork – Pork is a favorite among avid barbecue enthusiasts. The most famous cuts of meat for the grill are ribs followed by pork shoulder and pork butt.

Seafood – Seafood the renowned for BBQ skewers. Fish is perfect on the grill and it has Omega3 fatty acid that is good for your health. Seafood offers appetizing meals and at the same time provides us numerous health benefits.

Beef – Burgers and steaks are the most common forms of beef to barbecue. Experts recommend frozen beef instead of fresh. They also recommend a fattier cut of meat for the grill to keep the meat flavorful and hot. The perfect beef cuts for the grill are the porterhouse steak, rib eye, t-bone and strip steak. For an extra bit of gourmet extravagance the fillet mignon is always a favorite.

If you are someone who loves to eat BBQ skewers, use marinated shrimp, seafood skewers, beef, salmon, pork, etc to enjoy sumptuous barbecue. So what’s your secret of grilling planks and seasoned skewers?

t other reviewers from the Coca-Cola of bookstores, Amazon, (the version from the UK!) have to say about this Gordon Ramsay Classic.

This is a great book, with some lovely ideas. I particularly enjoyed making the desserts. Kids food is good, as is the bbq section. The only problem i found was that there was rather a lot of seafood, which i dont like. but that\’s a personal issue, not a fault of the book!! i do like good hearty meals though, so maybe healthy options wasnt the book for me, assome of the recipes obviously arent as hearty as i would have liked. Good book though, am pleased that Gordon\’s creating recipes that are healthier, as usual his recipes have lots of ingredients and are very rich and unhealthy!!

I love cookery books but am also constantly told by my husband “why don\’t you cook from them?”. Well this is one of those books that has recipes that are easy to follow and even though it is healthy it is also very tasty. I have cooked quite a few recipes from this book and they have all turned out beautifully. As for the gentleman who mentioned his girlfriend was on Weight Watchers – I am also and have found some great new ideas to keep food interesting and tasty while remaining in the zone of “my body is a temple!”

Despite not particularly liking Gordons stressy and abrasive manner I do like these recipes. Of course the beautiful presentation does give tempting ideas and will make anyone want to rush out and buy fresh ingrediants to try out. Love the sashimi idea and the display in particular. Great value from Amazon, ideal for the coffee table and a book brimming with ideas that are simple and healthy.

Healthy Appetite is an excellent book. Gordon bangs on that healthy is not boring….. and he is right. Gone are the trademark cream and reduced sauces, the butter basted meats and in come healthy full english breakfasts, 5 ways with tomates- salads, homemade ketchups. Dishes for a working lunch, entertaining and desserts.

Good to see a book that gives good healthy recipies, that are also full of flavour.It\’s the usual high standard from Gordon Ramsay, and a lot of the dishes are not only good for you, but are quick to prepare as well. The usual format, meals broken down into breakfast, lunch, dinner and some surprises in the healthy snack department. There are also sections showing you how to cook the healthy way, and a number of options with various ingredients.I am not into deprivation when it comes to food, and like everyone, I like to be healthy. This book goes along way in helping me achieve this without gaining weight.

Healthy eating – without feeling deprived!, A brilliant cookery book that shows how you can follow a healthy diet and still enjoy cooking and eating delicious food! I particularly like the \’Healthy Cooking Techniques\’ section and the nutritional guidance – such as how to avoid \’bad\’ fats and how to eat a balanced diet. I\’ve tried some of the recipes – the steamed prawns with black bean sauce and the vanilla panna cotta with blueberry sauce are absolutely yummy! If you\’re a foodie who wants to be healthy, buy this book!

Fantastic read and usual high standard that we expect from Mr Ramsay – thoroughly recommend to all.

Wonderful, inventive recipes that inspire not only a healthier way of eating but are just great in themselves. The sort of book where I want to work my way through every recipe (and probably will). Just ordered a second copy for my cooking but health conscious son. Terrific! Well done Gordon.
